The purpose of the Design and Technology is to ensure that all students develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to confidently perform everyday tasks and to participate successfully in work and society when leaving school. The department aims to develop students so that they can build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a range of people. Additionally, students will learn life and work skills such as cooperation with others, independence and resilience. The teaching and learning is delivered through a predominantly ‘hands-on’ practical experience approach across all year groups.
