The purpose of the Dance Curriculum is to ensure that students can perform, choreograph and critically appreciate the work of professional dance practitioners and their own work. Students should be given the opportunity to perform in a variety of different styles within Key Stage 3 and 4 in order to develop their versatility as performers. This will also develop students’ knowledge and understanding of dance from different cultures. Lessons should be highly practical in order to provide students with the maximum opportunity to develop their skills, whilst supporting their general fitness, health and well-being.
Students will develop many transferrable skills including confidence, organisation, leadership, and the ability to communicate and collaborate with their peers effectively. These will equip students with the necessary resilience and skill set for a career within the Performing Arts industry.
